Recent EF Mass at Our Saviour

(Dan Writing) Hey all! Sorry for the lack of updates; as you might imagine MC & I have been really busy of late! Anyway while we're getting the last touches done on our wedding, we thought you might enjoy looking at some pictures from a recent Extraordinary Form Mass said at Our Saviour by our priest (Fr. George Rutler) on the Vigil of the Immaculate Conception. I was pleased to be able to attend the Mass that night & it provided me with a nice preview of things to come! About Our Priest...

Described fittingly by Holy Whapster Matthew Alderman as "the hardest working priest in the city," Fr. George William Rutler has been a constant source of joy for New York City Catholics ever since he crossed the Tiber almost three decades ago. After abandoning the now dessicated husk still refered to by many as the "Episcopal Church," Fr. Rutler then spent many years of study abroad, earning not only a doctorate in Sacred Theology, but a cool Oxbridge accent as well. Upon his return to the States, Fr. Rutler became a permanent fixture of the Archdiocese of New York, serving as associate pastor of St. Joseph's in Bronxville, Our Lady of Victory, & the venerable St. Agnes; since 2001 he has served as pastor of the Church of Our Saviour.


If you are among those whose sole acquaintance with Fr. Rutler is through his prodigious literary output or his frequent forays into the world of cable television on EWTN (his current program, Christ in the City, being only the most recent), then you've really only seen one side of this truly amazing priest. In addition to being an impressive scholar and a world-class homilist (with a wickedly sharp sense of humor), Fr. Rutler is also one of the most approachable, congenial men of the cloth one will ever encounter. One need only witness how warmly and attentively he greets each member of his large and diverse flock after Holy Mass on Sunday to understand how seriously he takes his role as pastor bonus. We are both honored and humbled to say that Fr. Rutler will be saying our Nuptial Mass.
